My job runs the gamut of profoundly fulfilling to dealing with individuals who belittle and berate me. Generally I’m ignored or snarked at, but even that gets stressful at times. It hits that emotional wound where growing up with bullying still lingers. And, like picking a scab off a scrape, it seems to make those old wounds hurt and bleed again. I think this is probably at the core of my fibromyalgia, though I’m sure it has physical and other causes. (Fibromyalgia tends to attack individuals who are Type A personalities, already depressed or prone to depression, and who either undergo a serious condition/experience (such as a car accident or bad illness) or a series of them.
And while I try very hard to release and forgive, after all, most of the time these people aren’t mad at me, per se, but at the situation. And they’re not technically belittling and saying abusive things to me, but they are simply trying to find an outlet for their frustration, honestly, I’m not all that “above it all” and altruistic as I’d like to be. It’s damn hard to release and forgive at times.
That’s where reiki comes into play.
