I had a fantastic experience a few weeks ago when I was sending distance reiki to a friend. As I worked on a specific area, one which correlates to a chakra, I began to sing a note. Just one note, and it rang crystal clear. As I intoned, I felt the reiki vibrating faster; my palms tingled even more. I knew the music note was affecting the reiki in a good way.
As soon as I finished my distance session, I got out my clarinet and played around a bit until I hit on the tone. It was a middle A.
Aha! I spent the rest of the night singing Do Re Mi in my head, working with a C scale and correlating them to chakra points. Then, I started researching to see what other work people have done with music notes and chakras. And wait? Several sources said the throat chakra is a G note.
I couldn’t deny my experience. What I’d felt had worked! And I couldn’t deny the work of so many other sources, either. Then, it hit me.
I play clarinet. When you transcribe music from a piano to a Bb clarinet, you move everything up one step. This makes the A I had been playing become a G.
Suddenly, I became even more fascinated. All of a sudden, out of the blue, with no correlation, except my musical and metaphysical training, I’d chosen to intone the right note to help the chakra work for this person, all because it felt right. I was compelled. In fact, I didn’t even think I was making the noise at first, and then realized that yes, I was singing the note along with sending.
Amazing!
Not only does this open up a whole new world (though yes, I’m well aware others have done work in this too) for those who send reiki and do other modalities that also work with the chakras, but it also confirms that this is all universal.
And, it brings up the good reminder. When you’re used to hearing music through one instrument, then you’re going to think in the key signature of your instrument. But that’s perfectly all right. In fact, I think it’s wonderful.
